Glenn Crytzer

Harlem Mad We did this record at the Columbia City theatre, with the vocals done in New Orleans by Meschiya Lake, a frequent collaborator of mine who was voted best new artist at the Big Easy Music Awards this year. Our goal with the recording mixing and mastering on this disc was to make it something that takes advantage of the clarity and frequency response of modern recording equipment, but to also give the recording a real vintage feel. Everything was recorded with one pair of room mics instead of individual mics, and the only over-dubs are, of course, the vocals. Then we mixed the record down to mono and took it to Steve Turnidge who sort've mastered and "un-mastered" the recording at the same time. The result, which we were all really pleased with, is recording that feels both old and new, and isn't over produced sounding like modern swing records often are.
